The astonishing success of Read Across America offers proof that a love for reading is alive and well in the United States. Whether thousands mark Dr. Seuss's birthday in a glittering amphitheater, or a parent gathers a child onto her lap for a story, the simple, yet profound essence of NEA's Read Across America remains the same: On March 2, the National Education Association is calling for every child to be reading in the company of a caring adult.
