CAMBRIDGE, MA - February 01, 2001 -
EchoMail, the established provider of E-Mail Relationship Management solutions, recently launched a full line
of original Valentine e-cards for use in EchoMail Direct Mail campaigns.
EchoMail's Animation team, lead by Chief Creative Officer Zoe Helene, created a series of cards in order to
demonstrate current new media applications available today for use in outbound marketing campaigns.
"We have taken advantage of Valentine's Day to create examples of different types of solutions that can be
sent to customers, clients, or business partners," said Zoe Helene, "As new media artists, one of our challenges
is to create original works within a constantly evolving new media. These cards demonstrate the strengths and
weakness of a wide variety of technological solutions available today."
The first, a 2D animated Valentine's card was created for one of EchoMail's Fortune 50 Financial clients, is
an independently functioning file called an "executable file", or 'exe'. Clicking on the icon automatically launches
the e-card. The second is a web based memory game that demonstrates the extent potential of creative customization.
The memory game is in the form of a 3D rendered box of chocolates, which is showcased on a standard HTML web page.
Like most campaigns, this entire game can also be translated into a stand-alone executable. The third is "Daisy.exe",
a simple game that can be sent via E-Mail in the same way as the Valentine greeting card by clicking on the daisy
icon to open the file. Clicking on the petals of the daisy prompts the recipient to play, "LOVES ME," "LOVES ME NOT."
The final example, a 3D rendered AVI sequence called, "Perfect Match".
As downloading time becomes less of an issue, and as technological advances such as 'streaming video' continue to
evolve, these narrative 'story-telling' e-mail campaigns will become more widely used.
