CAMBRIDGE, MA - January 11, 2000 - EchoMail Inc., today announced the appointment of Gene Deans to Database
Administrator. He will be responsible for the administration, integration, and support of various technologies including
Oracle, UNIX, Veritas File system, Volume Manager, and Net backup.
"As an avid technology enthusiast and leading expert in Oracle Database Administration, UNIX and Windows NT Systems, Gene
is one of the few Database Administrators in the industry who can administer operating systems and hardware," said V. A. Shiva,

Prior to joining EchoMail, Gene was the Database Administrator for Volvo and IDT Corporation where he was responsible for
the administration and support of Oracle databases, Solaris, and Windows NT. While employed at IDT Corp., Gene implemented
several databases systems to support 24 X 7 operations.
Gene received his undergraduate degrees from North Carolina A&T State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in
Mechanical Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering. His graduate degree is from Rutgers University
where he received a Master of Business Administration (Quantitative Studies).
