CAMBRIDGE, MA - July 1, 1999 - Weber Public Relations Worldwide and General Interactive
announced today the formation of a strategic partnership that will allow Weber to offer its global
clients a method to cost effectively use e-mail for managing relationships with a wide-range of
constituencies. The partnership matches Weber's communications and consulting expertise with General
Interactive's EchoMail® a suite of software solutions that automatically reads, tracks and responds
to e-mail, providing organizations with powerful realtime tools for assessing attitudes, tracking opinion
and addressing issues. Under the terms of the agreement, Weber will be an authorized reseller of EchoMail,
and will have complete support from General Interactive on e-mail campaign development, training and
installation.
"With e-mail fast becoming the world's communication method of choice, we felt it was essential to
offer our clients a best-in-class approach to using e-mail to build and manage relationships," said
Larry Weber, chairman and CEO of Weber Public Relations Worldwide. "We see powerful applications for
the EchoMail solution in our marketing and public affairs practices, giving our clients a way to relate
to audiences on a one-to-one basis as well as to build important historical and trend databases."
"Organizations are bombarded with thousands of e-mail messages every day from valued customers or
constituents who expect a rapid and personalized response," said V. A. Shiva, founder and president of
General Interactive. "Whether it be Nike responding to customer concerns around labor issues or the
U.S. Senate tracking constituents' attitudes on impeachment, organizations increasingly are realizing
the critical role e-mail can play in their success. Weber's leading position in applying technology
to public relations practice makes it the perfect partner to extend EchoMail's application into this new sector."
